Frequently Asked Questions
Attending Barkham Festival
Do you need to have a dog to attend?
No, you can come solo or with friends & family. Up to you! Our events are for anyone that loves dogs, not just dog parents. There are vendors for everyone in the family, and activities for everyone to take part in.
Do my dogs need to be leashed at all times?
Yes, for everyone’s safety, all dogs must be on a leash that is no more than 6ft long while on Markham Museum grounds. Dogs seen not on leash will be asked to leave the premises and no refunds will be given.
Do you have to be from Markham to attend?
You can be from anywhere and you're still invited. We've had guests from Barrie, Hamilton, Niagara Falls, Kitchener, New York, and even Edmonton - (this is who we know of). When you come, visit us at the Purple MDA Tent and let us know where you're visiting from.
Is this an outdoor event?
This event is mostly outdoors but there are some activities and vendors located indoors.
Is the event weather-dependent?
Barkham Festival will take place rain or shine!
Is there free parking?
Yes, there is free parking in front of Markham Museum. Please note that there are a limited number of spots so we strongly encourage using public transit or carpooling. There is additional parking located at Mount Joy GO station.
How do you get to Barkham Festival via public transportation.
You can use either GO Transit or York Region Transit. Markham Museum is located 12 minutes away on foot from Mount Joy Go Station and 2 minutes away on foot from Markham Road & 16th Avenue bus stop.
Is the venue wheelchair accessibile?
Barkham takes place on Markham Museum's 25 acres, winding through many historic buildings and outdoor pathways. Most pathways are concrete, however other surfaces may be uneven.
Tickets & Entry
Can I get my ticket at the door?
Yes, however the price will be $5 more and there will not be any bundles available. We appreciate pack members who buy their tickets in advance because knowing attendance numbers early helps us and our vendors plan ahead. So grab your tickets online now and save before the day of the event!
Where can I find add-on experiences?
Add-ons, like photo booth strips, pawterry classes and Paw-sitively Ever After wedding photos can be found on Eventbrite, right after the event tickets selections. Even if you bought tickets already and want to go back to add on, simply go through the same process when buying tickets and locate the add-on section under the ticket section.
Do caregivers get free entrance with the Easter Seals' Access2 Program?
Yes, as partners of Markham Museum, we're proud to honour their membership with the Easter Seals' Access2 program. This program allows registered caregivers to enter the Markham Museum at no cost, removing barriers for those who require a support person to enjoy their visit. Present your valid Access2 card upon entry, and your support person will receive complimentary admission.
I'm trying to buy tickets, but it says you're sold out.
Time slots helps us even out the number of attendees. If one is full, please try another.
Can I leave and come back?
No, your ticket is only valid for a one-time entry, meaning you won't be able to leave and come back. We have food trucks, beverages, and treats for the dogs - we have everything you need!
